Natural gas marketers are free to offer customers different terms and conditions. As a result, their pricing options will be different than those available from Terasen Gas.
What are the licensing requirements to become an independent gas marketer?
All gas marketers providing unbundled rates in BC must be qualified, approved and licensed by the British Columbia Utilities Commission. They must also adhere to the BCUC's Code of Conduct for Gas Marketers.
What is their business relationship with you?
Your contract with a gas marketer will include the following:
- terms and conditions of the supply agreement
- fixed price of natural gas in Canadian dollars per gigajoule
- one to five year terms for the supply arrangement penalties for early termination of the contract
- conditions which may affect the price or term of the offer
