Barbecues

Choose a natural gas barbecue, and you'll never run out of fuel again!
That's because a hose extends from the barbecue to a "quick-connect" hookup that taps into your home's natural gas supply. Since the hose is flexible, and normally about three metres long, you can move your barbecue almost anywhere on your deck or patio.
Quick tips
- If a hookup is not already in place, a gas contractor can extend gas piping from your existing house piping to your backyard or patio.
- "Quick connects" make attaching and disconnecting the barbecue simple, so you can store your barbecue safely indoors.
- If you already have a propane barbecue, you may be able to convert it to natural gas. Most barbecue dealers will be able to advise you on the cost and suitability of conversion. Important note: once you convert the barbecue to natural gas, it must not be operated on propane!
- Barbecues come in many sizes. Factor your family size and the number of guests you entertain into your choice of barbecue.
- Cooking surfaces vary from model to model. Grids can either be porcelain-coated cast iron or steel wire, or chrome-plated steel wire. Porcelain grids hold heat well, are durable and are easiest to clean. Cast iron surfaces seem to sear meat better.
