Top chefs worldwide prefer the sophisticated features and outstanding performance of natural gas ranges, cooktops and wall ovens. At home, natural gas appliances offer unbeatable convenience and value — and you don't have to be a chef to use them!
Features at a glance

- instant on/off heat
- smokeless broiling
- automatic, worry-free pilotless ignition offers fuel savings of up to 30 per cent
Quick tips
- Natural gas appliances use your home's natural gas supply. It's usually simple for a gas contractor to install gas piping in your kitchen. Important! All appliances should be installed by a licensed gas contractor and according to the manufacturer's requirements.
- Your cooking requirements, kitchen decor and space limitations will influence your choice of cooking appliance. For instance, wall-mounted ovens are big space savers, while cooktops are best installed in kitchens with ample counter space.
- Features like lift-up, removable and sealed-top burners simplify the cleaning of grates, and lift-off doors make oven cleaning easy.
- Front or side-mounted burner knobs eliminate the need to reach over burners to change temperature settings; push-to-turn knobs prevent accidental lighting of burners.
- Infrared broilers cook food faster, use less energy and reduce food shrinkage.
- Self-cleaning ovens are better insulated and save energy.
SAFETY TIP: Install a proper-size range or cooktop ventilation fan to get rid of cooking odours, moisture and products of combustion.
Ranges
Natural gas ranges can be free-standing (oven and range top are enclosed in a metal cabinet) or built-in (unit is set into a wall or island). They come in widths of 20, 24, 30 and 36 inches (51-91 centimetres) and wider, with a standard height of 36 inches (91 centimetres). All ovens feature broilers, some located beneath the oven and others located at the top to free up storage space beneath. You can choose between self-clean, continuous-clean or manual-clean models.
Cooktops
The contemporary, designer look of built-in natural gas cooktops makes them a stylish addition to any kitchen. Natural gas cooktops come in widths of 20, 24, 30 and 36 inches (51-92 centimetres). They are available with built-in downdraft exhaust fans, or you can use them with overhead fans.
Wall ovens
Space-saving, low-profile natural gas wall ovens are "natural" convection ovens; that is, the normal air movement established during operation allows for faster, more even baking without the use of fans. They come in widths of 24 and 27 inches (61 and 69 centimetres) and are available with features such as infrared broilers.
