Fireplaces
Benefits of a gas fireplace
- Most gas fireplaces operate without electricity, which is handy during a power outage
- All the ambiance of a wood-burning fireplace without all the soot and smoke
- No wood to chop and no ashes to clean up
- No sparks or creosote build-up in the chimney to cause fires
- Automatic safety shut-off
- Remote control operation (optional)
- Economical secondary source of heat
- Better for the environment with fewer particle pollutants than an open, wood-burning fireplace
Look for the EnerChoice logo

To be sure your new fireplace is energy efficient look for a model that has an EnerGuide Fireplace Efficiency rating. Many natural gas fireplaces are energy efficient. But only the top 25 per cent qualify for the EnerChoice logo.
The EnerChoice system helps you identify energy efficiency and heating ability. On a scale of 1 to 100, the higher the number, the better the energy efficiency and the more heat output consumers get for their heating dollar.
