A note for Whistler / Revelstoke
More information
If you own property in other areas of BC, you may want to know more about CUSTOMER CHOICE.
Why CUSTOMER CHOICE isn't coming to all of British Columbia
It's not simply about choice
You've probably seen our advertisements about CUSTOMER CHOICE. You may have asked yourself why it isn't being offered to all Terasen Gas customers in British Columbia. This should answer questions you may have about the program.
A different rate structure
Natural gas rates cover many items, such as the cost of the natural gas commodity, the cost to build and maintain pipelines, and the cost to deliver natural gas.
Propane rates cover many items such as the cost of the propane, shipping costs and the cost to deliver propane. Whistler and Revelstoke rates reflect factors that are specific to each region so they're different from those in other areas of BC.
Accommodating the new program within the existing rate structure is not possible. As result, Terasen Gas is unable to introduce the CUSTOMER CHOICE program to the area at this time.
Your propane rates
Terasen Gas and the BC Utilities Commission (BCUC) regularly review propane rates to ensure you receive service at a fair and reasonable price.
Every three months, we review our commodity costs – the price of the propane that we buy on your behalf.
Under BCUC regulations, we are required to pass our cost for propane on to you without mark up.
