Contracts

There are two documents that you need to sign in order to participate in CUSTOMER CHOICE.

1. Notice of Appointment of Marketer

You must sign this form to enter into a supply agreement with a gas marketer. The signed form gives Terasen Gas permission under privacy legislation to release your consumption history to the gas marketer.

It also ensures that you are proactively participating in the process and have agreed to our billing and collections arrangements.

In the event your marketer fails, the signed form serves as the authorization Terasen Gas needs to continue delivery of natural gas to your home.

2. Your contract with the marketer

The contract with the gas marketer outlines the terms and condition of the supply agreement between the marketer and you, the customer.

It will include the essential elements of the offer:

• price in Canadian dollars per gigajoule
• length of term
• renewal provisions
• penalties for early contract termination
• conditions affecting the price/term of the offer

Requirements for the contract are outlined in the Code of Conduct for Gas Marketers.

Make an informed decision

Once you sign a contract with a gas marketer:

• You'll be locked into an agreed upon set of terms and conditions. 
• Your contract may be subject to an early termination penalty.

Be sure you understand your contractual obligations and read the fine print before you sign on the dotted line.
