Before you sign a contract with a gas marketer, do your homework. These questions may help you gather and review the information you need to make an informed decision.

1. What is their price in Canadian dollars per gigajoule of gas?
2. How long is the term of the contract?
3. Is the price per gigajoule of gas fixed over the entire term of a contract or can it vary?
4. What are the renewal provisions of the contract?
5. What are the rights and penalties for early termination of the contract?
6. What is the gas marketer's track record supplying natural gas?
7. What are the benefits and risks involved (in a fixed- term contract)?
8. What commitments will be made on my behalf?
9. What are the financial obligations and potential additional charges?
10. Does the contract commit me to other services and energy supply arrangements, such as electricity, telecom or cable?
11. If I am a residential customer, when does my cooling-off period end, and who do I call if I want to cancel my contract?
12. If I am a residential customer and move to a new residence, what information do I need to provide to my gas marketer and Terasen Gas?
13. Who is authorized to sign a contract with a gas marketer?
