Natural gas — like oil, coffee and lumber — is a commodity traded on the open market. We purchase our natural gas from producers, then pass it along to you without mark-up.

 

This means you pay what we pay. We charge for delivery service, which is how we make our money. We don't make a profit on the cost of the gas itself.

We keep our natural gas rates competitive by using purchasing strategies, such as hedging.

 

Terasen Gas operates under regulations set out by the BC Utilities Commission. These regulations prevent Terasen Gas from offering long-term, fixed-rate contracts or different prices to customers in the same rate class.
