Each quarter, Terasen Gas meets with the British Columbia Utilities Commission to review the price of gas on the open market and forecast what we will have to pay for the commodity. As we do not mark up the price of gas, the commodity rate on your gas bill is the same as the rate we pay.
Depending on market circumstances the price that we pay may be the same, higher or lower than the previous quarter.
The following chart indicates how the cost of gas has varied over the past five years.
Note: Commodity charges prior to April 2004 include the midstream charges and rate applicable riders.
