Terasen Gas Fuel Switching Program

Overview

Eligible homes

• The home where the natural gas central heating system is installed must be in the Terasen Gas Inc. or Terasen Gas (Vancouver Island) Inc. (collectively, Terasen Gas”) service territories of the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Squamish, Interior of BC, Vancouver Island and Sunshine Coast.
• Program is limited to existing and new residential customers of Terasen Gas, and is not available in Whistler.
• Program is not available for new construction.
• Only one Terasen Gas Rebate and one ECM Rebate per household per customer.

New customers

• New customers must apply for or receive a natural gas service line connection between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011 to be eligible for this program. Natural gas service must be activated before February 29, 2012.

Eligible natural gas central heating systems

• Installed between January 1, 2010 and February 29, 2012;
• ENERGY STAR rated natural gas central heating system, including forced-air furnaces rated 90% AFUE or higher, a boiler rated 85% AFUE or higher, or a condensing combination system used for both space and hot water heating;
• The primary heating source for the home;
• Installed by a BC Safety Authority registered gas contractor or a homeowner under the requirements of the Gas Safety Regulations; and
• Installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s specification and in compliance with all applicable laws, codes, standards and ordinances.

Program process

• Applications must be signed by the applicant.
• Processing of applications may take a minimum of 90 days.
• Terasen Gas is not responsible for lost, delayed, misdirected, damaged, illegible or incomplete applications.
• Terasen Gas reserves the right to refuse applications which it determines, in its sole discretion, are incomplete, inaccurate or otherwise do not meet program requirements.
• Applications must be postmarked no later than March 30, 2012.
• Terasen Gas reserves the right to audit and evaluate any newly installed natural gas central heating systems at any reasonable time for verification of the purchase and installation prior to issuing a rebate. A rebate may not be paid if an inspection or evaluation is refused or upon discovery of any failure to comply with any requirement of the Program.

Rebates

• Rebates will be issued by cheque in the amount of $1000 for the Terasen Gas Rebate and $50 for the ECM Rebate.

Representations and warranties

• Applicant acknowledges the Program eligibility criteria and warrants that it fully qualifies.
• Applicant warrants that all the information contained in the application and the information attached thereto is true and correct.

Additional terms and conditions

• Terasen Gas may be amend, modify or terminate this program at any time based on funding limitations or for any other reason, without notice. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, Terasen Gas may terminate the Terasen Gas Rebate and continue the ECM Rebate or vice versa, or terminate both the Terasen Gas Rebate and the ECM Rebate at any time.
• Applicant acknowledges that by taking part in this Program, his or her natural gas central heating system may use less natural gas and produce fewer emissions. Applicant agrees that Terasen Gas may record any resulting reductions in emissions along with those of participating customers and credit them to the Terasen Gas Greenhouse Gas Management Program.
• Terasen Gas makes no representation or warranty, whether express or implied in respect of any natural gas central heating system, or the services or measures that a person has chosen and applied for a rebate for. Applicant agrees that Terasen Gas has no liability concerning any estimated energy savings of any natural gas central heating system, services or measures, and/or the installation, performance, use or fitness of the same for a person’s purpose.
• Terasen Gas assumes no liability or responsibility for work completed under this the Program.
• The applicant is solely responsible for meeting all Program requirements and complying with any laws, regulations or by-laws regarding permits, codes, restrictions or inspections in relation to appliances, products or equipment installed.
• The Terasen Gas Rebate and ECM Rebate cannot be combined with any other Terasen Gas offer, unless otherwise specified.
• By applying to this Program, applicant agrees that Terasen Gas or one of its agents may contact applicant in the future to participate in a survey about this Program.
• The applicant is solely responsible for any tax liability imposed as a result of payment of a rebate(s) under the Program.
• Rebates cannot be assigned or transferred to another recipient.
