StatusProject begins July 28th for completion by end of September 2008. Existing pipeline and suspension towers to be removed in summer 2009.
OverviewThis is a major pipeline upgrade with unique challenges. We're replacing the gas pipeline suspended above the Columbia River with a new, high pressure pipeline under the river. A special horizontal drilling method will be used to avoid harming the ecosystem.
Reason for upgradeReplacing this pipeline crossing is part of our ongoing preventive maintenance program. The underground pipeline will fit in better with the environment and provide safe, reliable natural gas delivery for decades to come.
We're letting people knowArea residents and businesses will receive a letter just prior to the start of drilling work in the Columbia River vicinity. The letter explains potential disruptions, noise levels, and the impact on pedestrian and vehicle traffic. |
