Terasen employees partner with Community Living Victoria
SURREY, B.C. – Residents at a Community Living Victoria group home will experience a more comfortable living environment on April 26 thanks to a $30,000 corporate contribution and the volunteer efforts of Terasen.
“For Terasen, the comfort of others is the core of our business and today’s project is a great way to contribute to the well-being and safety of people with developmental disabilities in our community,” said Carol Greaves, Terasen Gas community relations manager, Victoria.
The day will see Vancouver Island employees complete outdoor improvements, including filling in an old pool to create a patio, building up existing slopes, raising garden beds and building a wheelchair-friendly path in the backyard.
“The difference Terasen employees have made will never be forgotten,” comments Ellen Tarshis, Community Living Victoria executive director. “The generous gifts of materials, hard work and community investment embody the spirit that Community Living Victoria has worked to achieve for more than 50 years.”
Community Living Victoria has operated in the Victoria area for the past 53 years. In addition to 15 group homes, Community Living Victoria provides a range of services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.
“We’re excited about the renovations and the incredible support we’ve received from the community,” explains Greaves. “Our volunteer efforts support the importance of being connected to the people we serve, in the communities where we live and work.”
On April 26, Terasen employees in Surrey and Kelowna will also be volunteering in their communities. In Surrey, a $30,000 corporate contribution and the planting efforts of volunteers will give Holland Park a new oasis for people to enjoy – Terasen Garden. Meanwhile, Habitat for Humanity Kelowna receives the same contribution, as well as new natural gas stoves and furnaces and much needed landscaping and renovations for two housing units.
Terasen and its employees have long been active corporate citizens, giving their time generously to charitable causes and organizations.
