Career development
Our business is built on employee knowledge, so we encourage and support life-long learning. Training programs help staff acquire new skills and embrace new ways of thinking. They also increase job satisfaction and work performance by aligning personal skills with chosen career paths.
Terasen Gas offers specialized apprenticeship, engineer and management training programs. These programs provide assessments and development plans to help employees reach their short and long term goals.
In-house Apprenticeship Training Program
Terasen Gas offers an in-house apprenticeship trades training program, providing the chance to develop your skills and experience in various areas. To track development, participants are provided with a logbook developed by the Training department in collaboration with subject matter experts throughout the company.
Engineer-in-Training Program
The Engineer-in-Training (EIT) program supports Junior Engineers as they develop their skills.
Over four years, EIT participants are rotated through several departments to acquire the experience necessary for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the
Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC. Opportunities exist for Professional Engineers in many areas of Terasen Gas.
Manager-in-Training Program
The Manager-in-Training (MIT) program provides an opportunity to develop business understanding and managerial skills within various areas of the organization. Participation in the MIT program can vary from one to two years in duration, with a variety of assignments. A typical assignment lasts approximately three to six months. The MIT program provides manager trainees with knowledge and insight about
- our corporate culture,
